Well, it arrived last Wednesday, just four days after ordering – not bad for an order that was placed on a Saturday afternoon – especially when you taken into account order processing time, and the fact that most online companies don’t process or ship orders on weekends. Everything that I ordered (cat treats for the cats, a beef chew, sweet potato treats, and 3-month flea treatment for the dog) arrived neatly packaged in a secure, well-marked box, and the pets and I excitedly dug in.

My experience with Mr. Chewy was a great one. They have a great selection of products, a website set up so that it’s quite easy to find products by category, price, or from a specific search; decent prices; and fast shipping.

For those of you that don’t know, I’m a crazy cat lady that is only somewhat reined in by the dimensions of my house and the number of people in it. Currently we have four cats in our household, along with a dog, as well as two hamsters, and four fish (three different tanks). The hamsters and fish are dirt-cheap to take care of, and it’s not often I have to stock up on supplies for them. But when it comes to the dog and especially the cats, I don’t go more than two weeks without having to purchase something, whether it be food, litter (for the cats), treats, or the occasional medication.

Mr. Chewy is an online store worth checking out if you have cats or dogs, and are interested in the good deals and convenience that go hand-in-hand with online shopping. Mr. Chewy carries a large selection of dog and cat food (including prescription foods), treats, litter for cats, housebreaking pads for dogs, and a small but decent selection of flea and tick medication for dogs and cats.

The people at Mr. Chewy were kind enough to offer me the opportunity to review their website. I just completed my checkout process, which couldn’t have been quicker or easier. Browsing the store was easy, thanks to the organized presentation of everything, and easy-to-navigate categories and sub-categories. Free shipping is offered on orders of $50 or more (an easy promotion to take advantage of if you purchase any flea or tick medication, or any of the higher end brands of food and treats), so I used the sort by price feature to pick out the right combination of items in order to qualify for that. The checkout process was simple, and I already received my order confirmation.

So far, I’m impressed with the ease and elegance of Mr. Chewy. I’ll update with a full review once I have received my order!

Believe it or not, there are now less than one hundred days until Christmas. As of today, Saturday, there are just 91 days until Christmas! And while that may sound like a lot, as you’re busy with your daily work/school/family routines, the time will quickly pass by, and before you know it November will be here and you’ll be rushing to figure out gifts for everyone. That’s why I suggest you start early. And if you know someone who enjoys fine wine often, or even on just a few special occasions a year, why not consider the gift of fine wine as their Christmas present?

I can’t think of anyone of or beyond the legal age for drinking alcohol that wouldn’t enjoy wine gifts. And when it comes to Sokolin.com, one thing they’re definitely not short on is options for fine wine! Sokolin, America’s premier fine wine merchant since 1934, makes it easy for you to shop for wine. Right on their main page you can get to browsing for wines based on their country or region of origin; their producer; their vintage; even their color. Of course, if you have a lot of people to buy for, you can also search by price and rating, so you’ll be able to find a selection that fits both budget and quality assurance.

In addition to fine wines, Sokolin also carries wine accessories, including fancy cork screws and stoppers; decanters and a lovely selection of glasses; and even books on fine wines.

My experience with HalloweenAdventure.com is not one I would care to repeat. I only knew of them from a paid blogging campaign I participated in during August of 2009, and I only wanted to shop on their website because I won an $80.00 gift card from that campaign.

In October 2009, my husband and I picked out a Halloween costume for him, and I placed an order. The total was close to $80.00, and that was with expedited shipping. However, several weeks went by with no shipment, and no confirmation of anything other than the fact that HalloweenAdventure.com had received my order and was processing it. I sent in several email inquiries and even called and left a few voicemails, but the order never arrived. Instead, the order was inexplicably canceled, and the money spent was refunded back to the gift card.

In mid-September 2010 (this year, for those of you playing along at home), I remembered that I still had the gift card, so I decided to try placing another order. I confirmed that the gift card hadn’t expired — and according to the original email I received, it hadn’t, it wasn’t due to expire until October 27th, 2010. So I picked out several products, and went through the checkout process. However, when I went to pay for the order with the gift card, I was notified that the gift card had expired on August 1st, 2010.

Um, WHAT?

So I sent off another email. A few days later, I left some messages on their Facebook. A few days after that, I left a comment on their blog. About two weeks after THAT, right around the 27th of September, I sent off a detailed complaint that included the not-so-subtle threat of going public about my less than stellar experience with them via email, Facebook, and their blog. I also called and left a message. Less than a half an hour later a new $80.00 gift card was issued. Funny how the mere threat of me going public got them to give me another gift card. I would have loved to see the tape from the security camera in their office when my email came in… Anyway, I hurried up and placed my order, then held my breath until the ordered costumes arrived.

Fortunately, they did, and they were what I ordered, and they arrived in a timely fashion.

But after my experience with HalloweenAdventure.com — mishandled orders, gift cards expiring before they should, a complete lack of communication (despite heavy promotion on their part which proves that they ARE around) and then a gift card provided only after I threatened to blog about my experience — I will never shop with them, nor will I ever recommend them.

There were ones I recognized and ones I didn’t; one of the new ones I came across was Soap.com (in conjunction with Diapers.com). I got to spin a wheel an won a prize — a coupon code good for $20 and free shipping! The coupon originally expired on August 14th, 2010 (but has since been extended for another week due to a lot of BlogHer attendees not receiving their FedEx-shipped swag), so when I got home last Sunday night, I set it out on my desk so I wouldn’t forget to use it. And I didn’t. On Tuesday, I ordered three ORLY nail polishes in Glam, Green with Envy, and Red Carpet. I had to kick out $2.50 to cover the difference between the cost of the nail polishes and the $20 coupon code, but all in all, $2.50 for three nail polishes was an awesome deal.

Also? The order arrived on Thursday — that’s just two days after I ordered! Talk about fast processing!
