Recently I hosted a giveaway for free business cards from UPrinting, and in return I was provided with my own free set of business cards. Ordering business cards from UPrinting.com is a dream — if you already have your own design prepared. If not, you’ll need to use one of UPrinting.com’s basic templates to help you set up borders and margins and guidelines and the like. But once you do that, as long as you stay in the lines, you’re good to go!

After you upload your design, you have the opportunity to preview it and then initial (approve) it. Then your order is processed, you’re notified only if there’s a problem, it’s submitted, and before you know it your order is at your doorstep! Here are the business cards I designed:

When it came to choosing where I’d have business cards made, the decision wasn’t too difficult — I went straight to Moo. I have known of Moo for several years, after initially hearing about them through their affiliation with Flickr. Moo has the well-known “mini cards”, which are small 1.75″ x 3″ business cards that you can use for your photography portfolio or even in place of regular business cards.

But I opted for a set of Moo Business Cards, which are the standard size.

Needless to say, I love the business cards I picked out. I used a pre-made template that made it very easy for me to add in my photography, add in my blog information and other info, and then choose the colors I wanted to use. I chose the matte finish, which is smooth and satiny like mens rings and without that annoying gloss, and the cards themselves are of a thick stock, which makes them feel so good to both touch and hold. These cards are truly ideal for high quality reasons, such as a way of including a little written memento along with groomsmen gifts.

Moo Business Cards arrive in cute little containers, completely with “Mine” and “Their” separators, so that you can keep your business cards separate from the ones that you receive from others, should you do business card swapping. Also? Most orders come with a few 15% coupon codes that you can share with family and friends!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Moo cards are miniature business cards — just 2.75″ x 1″ — that are primarily used by photographers who wish to advertise their Flickr accounts. But obviously they can be used for many other purposes, including as actual business cards.

I decided to order a set of Moo cards to advertise my Flickr account first and foremost, but I also have my other online details listed. The nice thing about Moo cards is that you can use them to advertise whatever: your website, your business, your bakery, your plus size swimwear website, whatever! Here’s what I ordered (there’s about 50 different photos that will be used for the back sides of the cards):

I’m very eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Moo cards, especially since I had the opportunity to see and feel a lot of them in person last week!

It was adorable. It still is, in fact. The disposable dispenser came with 200 post-it notes (alternating in orange and yellow colors), and has a rubber grip to help it stick/suction to whatever flat, smooth surface it happens to be on. The grip actually ripped off last month, but I was able to tape it back into place.

Overall, the dispenser is holding up well. Post-it notes dispense easily enough, and the bright colors definitely accent my desk area well! I just wish that the box was refillable!

I have to say, this is the fattest permanent marker I have ever owned. But it feels so good to be held! It feels rugged and durable, though I’m sure that has a lot to do with the rubberized, textured gripping area. The marker itself is thick and steady, and definitely permanent. I definitely like this marker!

Two weeks ago I received an email from Shutterfly, advertising an offer for, among other things, free sets of note cards (only shipping & handling required). I had several photos in mind that would make a nice note card cover, and I can always use cards and stationery, and so I decided to order a set. I ordered one set (12 note cards, envelopes included), was able to easily add my own photo, choose the finish (matte or gloss; I chose matte) and check out, and had my cards in hand within a week’s time, for only $2.64 S&H.

The note cards are 5″ x 3.5″ (I chose the oorizontal layout), and come on sturdy card stock. The photo I chose came out beautifully, as did the cards themselves. My only tiny gripe is that Shutterfly took it upon themselves to advertise on the back of the note cards. I understand needing to get the word out about your company, but if a customer is paying for a product, they shouldn’t have to advertise for you, too!
