I have been using Twitter for almost four years. Back when I started using it, it was this cool-yet-weird microblogging thing that a lot of people didn’t get. But I plodded on with my tweets, and I really enjoyed reading the tweets of fellow blogging friends and acquaintances. But over the past two years or so Twitter has really evolved and taken off, and now everyone and their mother (my own mother included) is using Twitter. It’s even a common input field on comment forms and contact forms, and don’t be surprised to find bloggers’ business cards with their Twitter handles listed.

Anyway, with almost 24,000 tweets over the past 3.75 years, 1200+ followers, and a seriously love for all things Twitter, I decided to get a custom Twitter necklace from Survival of the Hippest. The NYC-based home-run company produces handmade Twitter handle and hashtag (#hashtag) necklaces, bracelets, anklets, even keychains, tie clips, and pins, as well as a few specialty necklaces. Simply specify the type of custom Twitter jewelry you’d like, choose horizontal or vertical orientation (horizontal is most common for jewelry; vertical for keychains and possibly tie pins), input what you’d like on the jewelry, take your pick of a gold or silver chain in a variety of lengths, then fill out your shipping and billing info, and presto, the Survival of the Hippest goddesses will create your Twitter bling by hand. (You can order here.)

I received my Twitter necklace within a week of ordering. It was shipped in the cutest little round tin, but of course I was most excited over how the necklace itself looked. I couldn’t wait to get it on (of course, I then turned around and took it right off, since while it looked quite cute with my plus size swimwear there was no way I was wearing it — and risking losing it — in the ocean!)!

I can’t believe how gorgeous and detailed the font is in person. I don’t know how Survival of the Hippest makes their necklaces, but they’ve got a good thing going!

Hands down, my custom Twitter necklace is my favorite piece of jewelry, and I plan on showing it off! I’d definitely order from Survival of the Hippest again — and you should too!

A few weeks back I wrote about the gorgeous Lady Vanderbilt collection. The elite, signature collection is all about fashion luxury jewelry that represents women, their loves and passions, and colleges all across the nation. In fact, this year Lady Vanderbilt teamed up with HerCampus.com to make sure that there are charm pendants for colleges all over the United States. Here are some of the lovely creations they have come up with:

What I love about Lady Vanderbilt is that their jewelry is anything but ordinary. The delicate colored Swarovski crystals and vermeil or sterling silver letters and charms suspended on delicate and glittering chains add an amazing punch of style and class to any woman, and to any outfit. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with the Lady Vanderbilt jewelry I received:

As you can see, it is definitely the epitome of style, and it’s the type of necklace that can be worn with almost any outfit. The chain, though delicate, is definitely strong, and at 16″ in length, it allows the charms to hit just the right area beneath your throat. I love how much this entire necklace glimmers. It definitely catches the light, and it’s attracted plenty of attention without me having to point it out to anyone.

What’s funny is that I am not a gold jewelry type of girl, but I have completely and utterly fallen in love with this Lady Vanderbilt necklace. I have already bookmarked the site and I plan on coming back to it in time for the holidays — I have two sisters-in-law and two future sisters-in-law, so believe me, Lady Vanderbilt will be hearing from me in time for Christmas! ♥

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

My wedding ring and engagement ring are the two most important pieces of jewelry that I own — and ever will own. I have had my engagement ring since 2001, when my husband proposed to me, and the wedding ring was added in 2004, when we got married. I’d like to say that I never take them off, but the truth is that I do — whenever I shower, because the water & soap causes my rings to slip off (and now that I’m over sixty pounds lighter than I was when I first got the rings, they FLY off). I also take them off if I’m going to be using harsh chemicals or if I’m putting hair dye in my hair — I don’t want to risk damaging or discoloring the rings or the diamonds!

Because my wedding rings jewelry mean so damn much to me, you better believe I do what I can to take care of them. Here is a general list + my own tidbits on how to best care for your wedding rings, engagement rings, and general jewelry, whether you purchased your Beautiful wedding rings jewelry from a website or from a local jeweler:

Remove your wedding rings jewelry when washing dishes or handling strong cleaning chemicals. If you don’t want to take your rings off, at least wear a thick pair of rubber gloves to keep them protected.

Don’t use over-the-counter products to polish or clean your wedding rings. Always take your rings to an experienced jeweler for a thorough, proper cleaning.

If you need one of your rings to be resized to a larger size, make sure the jeweler creates a slightly thicker band, so that there is plenty of support for the weight of the ring.

If your rings are loose on your fingers, use a Ring Snuggi or even a piece of adhesive tape around the band until you can get them resized.

Have your wedding rings jewelry inspected and cleaned by an experienced jeweler every year.

Feel free to add your own advice in the comments section of this entry!

For Halloween I’d always wear an orange shirt and black jeans to school — though by high school I “upgraded” that look to normal clothing but black & orange nail polish and eye makeup. If you’re wanting to buy personalized jewelry, for example, I doubt you’ll be able to find a printable coupon for it. But if you look around online, you might be lucky enough to find a coupon code. And guess what, I just recently came across one that is good for laurenklein.com! The code is paty10 Rumor has it that it takes off a certain percentage from your order, so go try it out!
