But over the past few years my hair has developed a bit of a rebellious streak. While it’s still straight, and definitely not curly or even wavy, it is a little on the unruly side. So when I recently got a hair cut that looked even better after the stylist took a hot iron to my tresses, I decided to go ahead and pick up FHI Heat’s Go Styling Iron. The styling iron is cute and sassy, has temperatures ranging from 140° to 410°, and is decided to quickly and easily straighten and otherwise style hair.

I am a total noob to styling irons, and have only used this one twice, so give me a week or so of messing with it before I give it the full review that it deserves!

I’m used to accomplishing updos only with the assistance of hair bands, octopus clips or other types of large barrettes. They’re a part of Goody’s new line of Simple Styles, which is all about creating simple, messy or neat, business class or casual hairstyles with just a few simple tools and only a tiny bit of your time.

Simply insert the pins in your gathered hair from opposite angles (or the same angle but spaced apart, if you’re wanting to experiment with different looks), twist in, and you’re set.

Here are some of the styles I’ve been able to accomplish — and yes, they hold for the entire day (great if you’re going to be laying glass mosaic tile or doing some other type of labor-intensive work):

Bling Strands are glittery metallic strands that you work directly into your natural hair in order to add a little extra style and glam to your look. Bling Strands are available in fifteen different colors, with each color being amazingly glittery. They look very easy to put in, and once they’re in they’re there to stay through hair styles, brushing and combing, shampooing and more.

Once my daughter and I have had a chance to try them out, I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes!

Even when it isn’t at shoulder length, it’s too much for average clips and claws to handle. Now that my hair is a few inches past my shoulders, I definitely need to bring in the big guns. For hair like mine, nothing works the best except for the octopus clip. This is sold under a variety of names, by Goody, Vidal Sassoon and many others. I have quite a few from Goody. They call theirs spider claws.

As you see, it does a great job of gathering and securing thick amounts of hair in a stylish manner. It doesn’t slip or pinch, and after two years of use I have yet to have one of these awesome clips break!

The shop is run by Sarah of alittlelessordinary.com, who personally creates each and every item. In addition to hair accessories, she also sells unique pacifier clips, onesies and one-of-a-kind tutus! Many items listed on her site can be customized to feature certain colors and certain types of clips (see color charts and clip styles), and in the case of the tutus, can be sized to your liking.

My own three and a half year old daughter was lucky enough to receive a few hair accessories from 2 lil Angels Boutique! My daughter was happy with the look and feel of the bows and clippie she received and has been wearing day-in, day-out for the majority of this week, and I am impressed by how well constructed they are, and how durable they seem to be!
