A few weeks ago I stopped at my local Bath & Body Works for a particular lotion. But while I was there, I was drawn to another lotion altogether — Aromatherapy Body Lotion Sensual in Sandalwood Fig. Let me tell you, it smells amazing. So amazing that it made me forget how my arms could benefit from some best weight loss pills, haha.
Sandalwood Fig isn’t a scent I would necessarily see myself enjoying, let alone wearing, but it smells amazing. It’s definitely feminine, but it’s strong, potent. The nice thing about it is that it mixes with my skin’s natural scents to create a unique blend. All scents do that, in case you didn’t know.
I’ll never forget the time I smelled a Victoria’s Secret perfume on a woman and didn’t realize it was one I already had!
Anyway, Aromatherapy Body Lotion Sensual in Sandalwood Fig is a lotion that I really love wearing. It’s enough on its own; I don’t need to pair a complementing perfume with it. It softens my skin and makes it feel silken to the touch, and it also lasts quite a while. Bottom line: I love it!

I have featured Nicole by OPI nail lacquer here before (here’s the review), but I focused on their standard nail polishes. Since that time I have had the opportunity to pick up a glitter polish containing pink hearts, and another glitter polish containing metallic purple stars. I haven’t yet used the glitter hearts polish, but I have tried the metallic purple star polish, and I decided it was so awesome that it deserved its own blog entry. The polish is appropriately named Get Star-ted, and here it is in action:
Applying the polish was incredibly easy. I first applied a layer of just the glitter only, and once that had a moment to set, I carefully applied the stars. I let them set for about ten minutes, and then I applied two more additional glitter-only coats to protect them. I have used these stars three times now, and in all three instances all but two or three stars were adequately sealed in by the two additional coats of glitter.
The stars seem to last pretty well for 2-3 days. That’s not bad, considering I routinely do dishes and housework, and I work at a computer (read: typing) 6-10 hours a day. And when the stars do “go”, it’s because a point has lifted up and is eventually worn up even more, and the star winds up ripping or peeling off entirely.

People generally write articles for websites because they have knowledge or a passion for something that they would like to share with others. Even if some type of compensation is provided in exchange for writing articles, it’s rare that someone would go into writing an article on a subject that they know nothing about. Why? Well, just as you probably wouldn’t agree to work a job that is completely foreign to you, it would be equally difficult to write about something you know nothing about!
I love reading website articles, because they’re usually quite helpful in providing me with a solution, some tips, or just some general advice. Take the article Basic info for modern digital single lens reflex review, for example. Three years ago I was all over articles like that, because I was planning on purchasing a DSLR. This particular article falls under the Photography category, which of course interests me because I love photography. I may not be an expert on photography; in fact my knowledge is fairly “beginnerish”, but I have a major passion for it.
Website articles are also great because they can be added to directories, such as web-articles.info, or to websites that need new content. You can write articles, or ask friends or family members to write articles for you, and then add them to your website as valuable content.
I’m currently typing this with a head full of hair dye — Manic Panic, to be exact. It’s a vegetable-based dye, which is exactly what I need for my hair. I’ve lost a significant amount of hair due to a protein deficiency (due to my gastric bypass surgery), so the last thing I want to do is apply bleach- or ammonia-based dyes that might damage my hair further. So, vegetable-based, bleach- and ammonia-free dye it is!
So far, so good. Manic Panic stained my fingers and forehead, as I expected it to, but there’s virtually no odor, and none of the scalp burning and itching that often accompanies a regular hair dye product. I chose , but since I didn’t bleach my hair beforehand, I’m not expecting my hair to turn a bright, hot pink. I am hoping for, however, some pink/red highlights and a nice all-over sheen.
Well, it’s time to go rinse the dye out. I’m going to follow up with a vinegar rinse, and then I’ll dry and style as usual. I’ll post before & after photos, so you can see for yourself how well (or poorly, as the case could potentially be) this stuff works!
I love to read. I’ve been a bookworm for as long as I have known how to read. I distinctly recall being nine and stuck at home with the chicken pox, and I spent the week at home from school devouring book after book after book. When other kids would play with their toys, I would read. As a teen and even an adult, I’ll sometimes give up a few hours of sleep in order to enjoy a really good book.
Of course, the downside of having a husband is not being able to read with the light on. Or splurge on Huntington Beach facials without getting the evil eye. So I solved the problem by using book lights. Most of them are clip-ons, but they’re also usually top heavy or on the gangly side, so they tend to sway or fall off entirely. I found the perfect solution in the Clip-it Bookmark Light. As you can see from the photo, it fits securely onto the cover of a book or around several pages of a book. Its light is bright and focused downwards, so it lights up the pages of most average-sized books perfectly.
Psst… don’t pay $15 for ONE of these things! You can find 3-packs of Clip-it Bookmark Lights online at various sites for $5 to $10 apiece. That’s a much better deal.
