Face lift surgeries

My mom and I often point out to one another people whom we believe, just from a few glances, have had face lift surgery. Really, we have nothing against face lift surgery… if it is something you need. But there are many women who clearly do not need face lift surgery, at least, not yet. Or, like Judge Judy, to such extremes! While she probably did benefit from her face lift surgery, she certainly didn’t benefit from having SUCH a lift!

Are you looking for ideas for tattoo designs? Perhaps you should look no further than rankmytattoos.com. What better place to go than a site that showcases actual tattoos from actual tattoo artists and tattooed people? I for one would have no idea as to what kind of tattoos to suggest for a person. So, if you were to ask me about tattoos, I would point you in the direction of rankmytattoos.com!

T-Mobile Dash

T-Mobile Dash In August I decided to treat myself to the T-Mobile Dash. I have had T-Mobile’s cell phone services since July of 2004, and have had several cell phones – a Nokia, Samsung E315, Motorola Razr and Sidekick II. Again the upgrade bug was biting at me, so I decided to alleviate the itch with a T-Mobile Dash.

The T-Mobile Dash is a sexy, feels-good-to-hold “Smart”phone that is loaded with Windows Mobile. Its key features include a bare bones but very functiona e-mail client, Internet Explorer (mobile version), and a camera that takes fuzzy but relatively decent photos.

When I’m on the go, which as of late has been just about every single day, I use my T-Mobile Dash to keep in touch with family, check my voicemail, check e-mail, and, of course, browse the web. I’m impressed with the battery life – with regular use, I can expect to need to recharge every three days or so. Charging takes a little longer than other phones, but that is to be expected.

I do have three minor critiques about the phone. First, the phone itself. I love the QWERTY keyboard, but I wish the keys were just a bit larger and had some spacing between them, more like the Sidekick II’s keyboard. I understand that this would make the overall size of the phone wider, but I would take a wider phone in exchange for being able to type quicker and not make so many mistakes (namely, hitting the wrong keys).

Second, there is no close or exit option for any of the programs loaded onto the phone. I can “leave” the program to go back to the home screen, or to open up another program, but this leaves the current program running in the background, sucking up precious amounts of memory. The only way I can turn off a program is to go to the Task Manager – much like hitting ctrl + alt + delete on a regular Windows computer – and force a shutdown of that particular program, all programs, or all programs but selected there.

My final gripe is that there are times when I am loading email or a website, and I’ll be suddenly bounced back to the home screen. I don’t know if this is a quirk or a crash, but it is annoying when it happens.

Overall though, small keys, lack of easy close options and quirks aside, I love this phone!

Plastic surgery

Well, celebrity plastic surgery seems to be a big thing these days. Honestly, while I understand that there are standards to conform to, I don’t understand why already beautiful and naturally gorgeous celebrities and models submit themselves to plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is a great option for those who really do have physical disfigurements or problems, such as excess skin, excess fat deposits, sagging eyelids or a crooked nose. But I don’t think plastic surgery should be taken lightly.

Dog grooming

I don’t know a lot about dog grooming and its associated hassles and costs, but as the owner of a Persian cat, and in the past several other Persian cats, I can tell you that pet grooming, in general, is a very useful service! Many cats and dogs require grooming because of mats and tangles. Others, like my Persian cat, are taken in for grooming when fleas are suspected. With excess fur out of the way, treating a cat or dog for fleas is a lot easier! And still other owners of cats and dogs bring their pet in for fashionable cuts and trims.

AT&T 5.8 GHz Digital Dual Handset Answering System

Allow me to preface this by saying that when it comes to cosmetic hold up, Unidens fail miserably. In four and a half years, two different Uniden phones have quickly lost a lot of their surface paint.

Anyway.

att-dual-handset-phone-system.jpg I purchased the AT&T 5.8 GHz Digital Dual Handset Answering System (exact model number is E6012B) to replace my crappy, boring Uniden. I was looking for a phone that had the following features:

  • Two handsets
  • Speakerphone capability on base and/or phones themselves
  • Digital answering machine
  • Backlit number pad

The AT&T phone system had all of that and more. While the base itself does not have speakerphone capability, both handsets do. In addition, the handsets can call one another – the “intercom” feature. The digital answering system is flawless, and both phones and the base have the ability to recognize and alert me (blinking light on base; “new voicemail” and email icons on phones) to new voicemails on my Vonage account.

The phones themselves charge quickly, are easy to use, very sleek to look at and very nice to hold. The buttons are circular and raised, and the blue back lighting makes low light or no light usage a breeze. The speakerphone capability of the phones themselves are amazing – very clear, and absolutely no static for either party!

Overall, I am very pleased with the $99 I spent for this dual handset phone system at Target.

Revlon Diamond Lust sheer shadow

Revlon Diamond Lust Last week I splurged and treated myself to Revlon’s Diamond Lust sheer shadow in platinum plaything. I had been considering purchasing it for quite some time. Finally, it’s sparkly goodness could not be resisted any longer, and I happily came home with the silver sheer shadow – platinum plaything.
Having never spent $10 on one eyeshadow before now, I was expecting this stuff to apply itself to my eyelids. Or at the very least, blind the people looking directly into my eyes.
No such luck.

But it does work nicely. I wouldn’t recommend layering it as a normal eyeshadow on your eyes – the result, unless you’re very close to the wearer, is rather matte, almost dull. Instead, use another shadow or even a sparkly eyeliner (Try Rimmel – I’ll review their sparkly eyeshadow in another post!), and apply Diamond Lust from the top of your lid up to your brow. Use only one layer, and smooth a finger tip worth all over to create an incredibly sparkly effect that lasts for hours.

For those interested, the following are comparison photos.
Left: Diamond Lust worn as eyeshadow (two layers). Right: Diamond Lust spread thinly from top of eyelid to brow.
