Upcoming review: Sexy Hair

Category:

Big Sexy Hair I’m always up for trying out new shampoo and conditioner. I recently had an epiphany: while my hair is thick and somewhat course, it lacks oomph – volume. So when I saw that my local Target clearanced a sample/travel pack of Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair shampoo, conditioner, gel and spray, I decided to try it.

The stuff smells good and it’s gotten good reviews online, but I still want to try it myself! I’ll report back with an honest review soon. :)

Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash

Category:

Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash The other day I mentioned receiving a sample bottle of Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash with some products I ordered from Sephora. Well, I used it yesterday morning, and overall I was not impressed. The buffing wash gets the job done, but the scent is barely-there, the exfoliating leaves much to be desired, and while there was plenty of lather, the soap didn’t seem adequate enough for shaving or moisturizing.

In a nutshell, while pretty to look at, Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash is one body wash I won’t be buying anytime soon.

Ultra Purex HE Detergent

Category:

Ultra Purex HE Detergent A few weeks ago I couldn’t find the brand of detergent I was looking for, so I made do with a bottle of Ultra Purex HE Detergent. For $6 I can’t go wrong, right? I’m happy to pay for a product that may not necessarily be showcased with fancy lights and a stainless steel backsplash, like other types of cleaning products. Besides, I have used Purex products before, and was pleased with their performance.

Overall, I’m satisfied with how Ultra Purex HE Detergent cleaned my laundry. The detergent had a light, fresh scent that wasn’t overpowering, and all of the clothes I’ve washed in the past few weeks seemed to have been cleaned adequately. I wasn’t impressed at the softness of the clothing, however. I understand that detergents are designed to clean, not soften, but I’ve used other detergents and had better results with the softness of clothing I washed. But in any case, Ultra Purex HE Detergent does the job I require of it, and I would use it again.

Upcoming review: Spotless Paw

Category:

Leah, my one (and a half!) year old Pug, is housebroken. She goes out first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and roughly every 3-4 hours in between. So what’s that… 5-7 times per day? It’s not so bad taking her in and out, though it’s a pain finding a pair of shoes to toss on so I don’t get my socks dirty (we don’t wear shoes in the house) when I put her out on a lead. You know what else is a pain? Rain and snow, or wet and muddy grass from previous rain or snow, because it means four feet tracking mud and god knows what else all over my kitchen and possibly into the living room.

Spotless Paw So when Spotless Paw asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of their products, I jumped at the opportunity. The glove is made out of texted microfiber, and it is thickly lined with plenty of room for absorbency. The purpose of the Spotless Paw is to have a quick and mess-free way of wiping a dog’s paws clean of mud and debris.

The six-fingered (ambidextrous!) glove has been hanging on the rack we keep by the kitchen door for about two weeks now, but that’s only because it hasn’t really rained, so I haven’t had the chance to use it! However, it is supposed to rain this weekend, so I should have a great review ready soon!

Urban Decay Loose Pigment

Category:

Urban Decay Loose Pigment For years (yes, years) I have been seeing the same names thrown around time and time again in regards to “high end” cosmetics — M.A.C. and Urban Decay. I’ve looked at their products from time to time, but could never justify spending more than ten bucks on a single shade of eye shadow. But I love all things dark, bright, bold and glittery, so after looking over Urban Decay’s Loose Pigment, I decided to buy one.

And… what a disappointment. It arrived yesterday, and I eagerly washed my face clean of the makeup I was wearing, and then applied a few layers of the pigment. Protest is the name of the color I purchased, and it is described as dark green in charcoal base w/ iridescent. Well, the dark green is certainly there, but that’s about all that’s there! My mother’s Martha Stewart metal candle sconces and my $6 Rimmel eyeliner showed more glitter and iridescent than the loose pigment. In the bottle it looks dark and sparkly, but on my lids? Not so much. To add insult to injury, it took a few layers to get it to look dark–rather than sheer–and even then, the staying power wasn’t that good.

Lesson learned? Absolutely. Never again will I spring for $18 shadow… not from Urban Decay, in any case.

Upcoming review: Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash

Category:

Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash I recently ordered some cosmetics from Sephora, and used a promo code to get a free bottle of Amazing Grace Perfumed Buffing Wash. The stuff smells amazing, and that’s no jest. It’s light and feminine and utterly delish. I plan on trying out tomorrow morning when I shower! :)

Upcoming review: ChopSaver

Category:

DSC_6458 (by Jenn ?) ChopSaver sent me two of their lip balms to try out. Originally developed by and for musicians who have problems with dry lips, ChopSaver may just be the next best thing in lip balm. Shea butter, mango butter, aloe and avocado oil work together to create a soothing, lightly flavored balm that seems — so far — to do a kick-ass job at protecting and nourishing lips.

I gave my younger brother the tube of ChopSaver Gold to try out. He takes several medications that cause dry mouth, and he is constantly dealing with dry and cracked lips. He initially reported that the lip balm seemed to really help, and I plan on calling him this week to find out if he is still liking it.

As for me, I’m pretty sure I’ll be giving ChopSaver a 5-star review, because I never go anywhere without my tube of it!
