I have been using Twitter for almost four years. Back when I started using it, it was this cool-yet-weird microblogging thing that a lot of people didn’t get. But I plodded on with my tweets, and I really enjoyed reading the tweets of fellow blogging friends and acquaintances. But over the past two years or so Twitter has really evolved and taken off, and now everyone and their mother (my own mother included) is using Twitter. It’s even a common input field on comment forms and contact forms, and don’t be surprised to find bloggers’ business cards with their Twitter handles listed.
Anyway, with almost 24,000 tweets over the past 3.75 years, 1200+ followers, and a seriously love for all things Twitter, I decided to get a custom Twitter necklace from Survival of the Hippest. The NYC-based home-run company produces handmade Twitter handle and hashtag (#hashtag) necklaces, bracelets, anklets, even keychains, tie clips, and pins, as well as a few specialty necklaces. Simply specify the type of custom Twitter jewelry you’d like, choose horizontal or vertical orientation (horizontal is most common for jewelry; vertical for keychains and possibly tie pins), input what you’d like on the jewelry, take your pick of a gold or silver chain in a variety of lengths, then fill out your shipping and billing info, and presto, the Survival of the Hippest goddesses will create your Twitter bling by hand. (You can order here.)
I received my Twitter necklace within a week of ordering. It was shipped in the cutest little round tin, but of course I was most excited over how the necklace itself looked. I couldn’t wait to get it on (of course, I then turned around and took it right off, since while it looked quite cute with my plus size swimwear there was no way I was wearing it — and risking losing it — in the ocean!)!
I can’t believe how gorgeous and detailed the font is in person. I don’t know how Survival of the Hippest makes their necklaces, but they’ve got a good thing going!
Hands down, my custom Twitter necklace is my favorite piece of jewelry, and I plan on showing it off! I’d definitely order from Survival of the Hippest again — and you should too!
