Where was Zenni Optical and their awesome line of prescription sunglasses when I was a kid? I’ve been near-sighted since I was eight or nine years old, and from that point onward always wore prescription glasses. There were a lot of times when I was a kid that I would have killed for prescription sunglasses. I remember one instance in particular where I won a pair of indigo-tinted, metal-framed sunglasses from a Pepsi promotion, and I insisted on wearing them to a baseball game. I made myself nauseous and quite headache-y from squinting and struggling to see anything clearly that was more than three feet in front of me, but at the time I felt it was worth it for the sun protection and coolness factor. Hah!
Now I know better, of course, and since I wear contact lenses most of the time, prescription sunglasses are a moot point. But there are times when I wear glasses, either because my contacts are bugging me, my eyes are bugging me or I just want to give my eyes a break from having hunks of plastic plastered to them for 16+ hours a day. And on those occasions, prescription sunglasses would be freaking awesome.
I would definitely recommend Zenni Optical for prescription sunglasses, and also for regular glasses! I have two pairs of their glasses, a friend of mine has a pair and is thinking about buying another, and now my husband wants to pick out a pair as well. What can I say? Zenni Optical’s awesome selection and affordable prices (seriously, you can get a basic pair of glasses with tinted prescription lenses for under $25!) make glasses irresistible.
