The Brugo Mug is an ingeniously designed mug that I wish my grandfather were still alive to experience, because he was an avid, 24/7 coffee drinker. The one thing he griped about the most is how scalding coffee was fresh from the pot, and what a pain it was to not be able to instantly enjoy a sip of it, especially if we were out somewhere and he couldn’t add an ice cube or some milk or half-and-half. A lot of people have this same complaint for coffee, and for other hot beverages such as hot tea (my husband) and even hot chocolate (me).
Enter the Brugo Mug. The Brugo Mug is a specially designed mug that insulates your hot beverage, which protects you from burning your hands on a hot mug. But what really sets this mug apart from other mugs and insulated containers is its tip & cool chamber, which separates a sip’s worth of liquid from the rest of the mug, cools it to a “bearable” temperature, and then allows you to sip just that cooled liquid.
I tested out this mug using my favorite hot beverage, hot chocolate. Of course, I made it Jenn style, which means I chose a low-sugar variety of hot chocolate mix, substituted some chocolate-flavored protein powder in place of the entire amount of hot chocolate mix, and added a teensy splash of Goddess white chocolate liquor, because I like to unwind on occasion.
My thoughts? The Brugo Mug works perfectly. A generous sip is separated into the tip & cool chamber when you have the mug’s lid set to that option (you can choose LOCK, which keeps the mug from allowing any liquid to escape; TIP & COOL, which allows you to tip the mug to separate a sip’s worth of liquid in the temperature control chamber, and SIP, which allows you to freely sip from the mug and bypass the chamber), and it really does cool down immediately. I’m very used to burning my lips and tongue on hot beverages, but the Brugo mug really saved me some pain (literally).
My husband also tried out the Brugo Mug, and after he initially spazzed with getting it on the right setting (I will admit that the dial on the lid is a little stiff and hard to turn from one setting to the next), even he noticed that his hot tea (his favorite hot beverage) cooled down enough for him to enjoy right away.
It’s a little late for Father’s Day, but the Brugo Mug would make a great Father’s Day gift, a nice graduation gift, the perfect present for your boss, or even a general birthday or holiday present for the avid coffee or hot tea drinker in your life. Plus it’s available in a multitude of colors, from a deep red to vibrant pink to a calming green to neutral blue to works-for-everyone black, so no matter what a person’s style, there’s definitely a Brugo Mug that is perfect for them!
