I was recently sent two full-size bottles of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock. The sunblock is designed to be very liquidy in consistency, which makes application very easy. If there’s one thing I hate about sunscreen, it’s the thicker varieties that don’t always blend in easily. As if applying stubborn sunscreen to myself isn’t bad enough, trying to get it applied thoroughly and evenly to two squirming preschoolers is even more difficult. There have unfortunately been a few instances where I missed a few random areas, which was evident with the resulting sunburn that showed up later that day.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock is available in SPFs of 55 and 70. In my opinion more is better, so I was happy to have the 70 SPF variety to try out. I burn and then tan, but I don’t burn nearly as fast as my son does. He’ll seriously get sunburned from being outside for less than half an hour on a cloudy day. It’s crazy! If there was ever a child whose skin color was close to #FFF, it’s my son.
In addition to having a decent SPF and a liquid consistency that makes the sunscreen easy to apply (seriously, it glides on as smoothly as liquid foundations!), Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock features Helioplex, which is stabilized technology that provides both UVA and UVB protection from the sun. The sunscreen is free of oils and PABA, and of course it is both waterproof and sweatproof. Have I mentioned how easy it is to apply? It’s the kind of thing you could easily apply on-the-go as you’re shopping with friends for clothes, makeup, baby shower decorations, whatever. And since it absorbs quickly and isn’t slippery, you’ll be ready to distribute promotional pens on a sunny day in no time!
My thoughts? The stuff works perfectly. I have been using it on myself and my children for the past several days, both on our faces and our bodies, and we survived three days in the sun and water without any sunburn. All three of us were in the water more than we were out of it this weekend, yet the initial application and one re-application was enough to protect us from the sun’s harmful rays. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock glides on very smoothly and easily, and its liquid consistency also means that less is more — a small coat of it is all we needed for adequate sun protection! It also smells nice and doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky residue, which earns brownie points in my book (there’s nothing I hate more than feeling sweaty and gross).
