Upcoming review: House of Night

Categorized in:

House of Night For my 26th birthday, which was this past Sunday, my brothers each gave me a book from the House of Night series. From the description, it looks like the books are geared for teenagers, but to be honest with you what I have read so far seems really promising! I’m on the first book, Marked, and the writing style, word usage, tone, inflection, etc., reminds me a lot of the Twilight series.

I love to read, so to be honest, I was very excited to receive books for my birthday, even if they were on the “younger” side for me. But to be honest, I’m fine with that. Easy reading means not having to tax my poor brain and make it work quite as hard at deciphering complex situations and dialogs. I’m also glad that the books themselves were inexpensive ($8.95 each at Target, possibly cheaper if Target was running their own sale or promo for them), as my mom doesn’t have a lot of money to spare. As it is, she has come to me a few times for help with bills and groceries, and once or twice has had to take out cash loans in order to pay off bigger financial burdens.

I want to finish up this book and the second in the series, Betrayed, before giving my final thoughts on the books. But so far, the first book seems really promising, and I’m already drawn in and wondering what’s next! :)
