If there’s one thing I hate, it’s running around trying to find a dry cleaner, and then having to run back to pick up my stuff when it’s done. For the record, because I’m so lazy about dry cleaning and love being able to launder my own clothing, I own approximately two dry-clean-only items, and they’re both black wool coats. Coincidentally, they were both gifts from my husband. The thigh-length, traditional black wool coat was bought from Lane Bryant in 2002, and the ankle-length, fur-trimmed black wool coat was bought from Fashion Bug in 2004. Both hung in a closet for quite some time, and managed to attract every spare cat hair and piece of fluff, dander and dust bunny that my cats and our homes generated in a two year span.
So when I saw the Dryel At-Home Dry Cleaning Starter Kit advertised on TV, I was immediately set on going out and buying it at the first available opportunity. That opportunity came up the week before Christmas, and I excitedly came home with my treasure and set to work opening it up and reading the instructions. Basically, you fill the reusable garment bag with the dry-clean-only clothes, add in one of the Dryer steam-activated cleaning sheets, zip up the bag, and toss it in the dryer for 30 minutes on medium.
The result? Well, it wasn’t as good as what the dry cleaner does, but it definitely does a satisfactory job! There was bits of this and that left over, but nothing that a lint roller couldn’t quickly take care of!
