Gone are the days of waiting until the very last minute to do Christmas shopping. I can tell you stories of going shopping on December 18th, December 21st, even the dreaded December 23rd and December 24th. Three years ago we did slightly better — we went shopping around the 15th. Two years ago we hit the stores by the 12th, and last year we did most of our shopping by the first weekend of December. But this year? I’m starting even earlier. Thanks to online shopping, the deals I find on eBay and the occasional great deals I find in Target, I’ve managed to get gifts for my mother and brothers (that’s three people crossed off the list! Yay!), and one gift each for my children, Alyssa and Ryan.
I’m definitely a sucker for online shopping. It’s just so much more convenient to shop online. Why should I spend the time to run around from one store to another, grabbing sales ads and looking up sales online when I can just do it all online? In my experience, shopping online offers:
- Convenience. I can shop whenever I want, without planning around appointments, preschool, and store hours.
- More options. There are SO many things I can buy online that I can’t find in stores.
- Better prices. Between refurbs, discontinued products and great deals, I’ve been able to score great deals that stores never offer.
- Coupons. A quick Google search for [store name] + coupon code almost always turns up some kind of working coupon!
With that said, I now need to go revise my Christmas shopping list. An idea for my husband just came to me, and since a TV commercial inspired me to purchase a gift for my mother online, I now have names and items to cross off and add!
