Urban Decay Loose Pigment
For years (yes, years) I have been seeing the same names thrown around time and time again in regards to “high end” cosmetics — M.A.C. and Urban Decay. I’ve looked at their products from time to time, but could never justify spending more than ten bucks on a single shade of eye shadow. But I love all things dark, bright, bold and glittery, so after looking over Urban Decay’s Loose Pigment, I decided to buy one.
And… what a disappointment. It arrived yesterday, and I eagerly washed my face clean of the makeup I was wearing, and then applied a few layers of the pigment. Protest is the name of the color I purchased, and it is described as dark green in charcoal base w/ iridescent. Well, the dark green is certainly there, but that’s about all that’s there! My mother’s Martha Stewart metal candle sconces and my $6 Rimmel eyeliner showed more glitter and iridescent than the loose pigment. In the bottle it looks dark and sparkly, but on my lids? Not so much. To add insult to injury, it took a few layers to get it to look dark–rather than sheer–and even then, the staying power wasn’t that good.
Lesson learned? Absolutely. Never again will I spring for $18 shadow… not from Urban Decay, in any case.

The Urban Decay brand was pulled from Australia thanks to bad reviews that were very similar to yours. I was lucky enough to get a set of M.A.C cosmetics for my last birthday, and I’m thrilled with the colours, the effect and how long they last. It’s infuriating how expensive M.A.C is; however a year in, and I’ve barely made a dent in my supply :D

Can you wet the pigments? Will you be trying this with your new primer?
