Because I make my living as a freelance writer, it’s imperative for me to have a keyboard that is easy and comfortable to use. I highly prefer using a laptop-style keyboard, because the flat, wide keys are easy to hit, and it doesn’t take much pressure to make a keystroke. You may not think that the differences between a standard desktop computer keyboard and an integrated laptop-style keyboard are much, but when you’re churning out thousands of words on toddler toys and business stationery on a daily basis, you’ll beg to differ!
A few months ago I tweeted about my desire for the HP Wireless Elite Desktop Keyboard and Mouse, since the keyboard is designed to be just like an integrated laptop keyboard. Wide, flat keys, easy to depress, very sensitive to the slightest touch, etc. The wonderful Ashley responded to let me know that she had a never-used set that I could have, so I purchased a pro subscription for her Flickr account, and the exchange was made!
Hands down, I love the HP Wireless Elite Desktop Keyboard and Mouse. The keyboard is indeed just like an integrated laptop keyboard, and it is very easy to use. It was quite useful to have during the week when I was laptop-less (I had sold my old one and was still waiting for my HP Pavilion dv7 to arrive), and made doing writing work on my desktop computer SO much easier.
The mouse is also very quick and responsive, and it feels very good to hold. I actually prefer it over the mouse I have for my laptop, even though the glossy finish was initially a little off-putting.
The only teensy critique I have about the keyboard is that the keys sometimes squeak a tiny bit. Other than that, it is perfect!
