Over a month ago I wrote about my issues with the underwires breaking out of a few bras that I purchased from Lane Bryant, and my frustration at getting a canned reply in response to my inquiry about doing a return or exchange through the mail.
Well, after a bit of email and phone tag, I have finally gotten the issue resolved. A representative from the company that handles Lane Bryant’s media relations found my blog entries, contacted me, and then forwarded my info to a Lane Bryant representative. She has arranged for me to return the bras (all three of them: the replacement white one that broke last month, the black one that broke a few weeks ago, and the beige one that broke last week), and will be sending me a gift card for the value of the bras, plus the shipping costs and general hassle. I am very glad to have gotten the chance to speak with someone from Lane Bryant, though it’s a bit disappointing to have only gotten that far because one of their media people found my blog entry and contacted them about it. However, the woman was very nice and helpful, and she is going to have the company take a look at the bras to see if a defect is possible, especially since all four bras broke in the same spot (left underwire, up through the top part of the bra).
I don’t know if I’ll use the gift card to purchase more bras. If I do (and I should, since I’m now down three bras!), I’ll probably stick to the underwire-free variety.
In closing, a huge thank you goes to KIM at Lane Bryant who took the time to listen to my concerns and resolve the situation!

Hi. I LOVE the back smoothing bra, so thank you for blogging about that! I look GREAT in my clothes with that bra!
OMG I thought it only happened to me until I started buying bra’s somewhere else and it didn’t happen. Once the underwire stabbed my boob so badly I had to wear some sport type bra for about a week in order to put the neosporin and bandage for my boob. WOW cannot believe it. I should of looked this up sooner.
I am SOOOO tired of spending 30.00-42.00 on my bras and having the same thing happen. I was told by an associate about 3 years ago that it happens if the cup size it too small. I can promise you that is BS because since then, everytime I go in, I get measured to make sure I have the right fit and I am still popping wires!! Doesn’t matter on color, they all pop and I hand wash them, hang dry them. Lane Bryant bras are awesome if you are looking for a disposable bra however at this price, who the hell can afford to keep replacing them. I am on a mission to find a new bra that actually offerers the support I need w/out having to replace them so frequently. I have a call in to customer relations, let see if the respond…if they do not, I am done spending ridicoulos amounts of money on items on disposable merchandise!!
