Summer is coming, and with it comes the desire to hit the pool! I for one can’t wait until our community pool opens (May 30th, and yes, I’ve marked my calendar!). Of course, going to a public pool with two small children can be a hassle and somewhat nerve-wracking, and it isn’t a challenge I’m willing to take on without the assistance of my husband or my mother. But even with two or more supervising adults, as well as lifeguards and other people who are in the pool, you can never be too careful around bodies of water.
In addition to staying close to our children and keeping an eye on them at all times, I’m going to be outfitting both of them with swim sweaters. Swimways is the manufacturer of these awesome swim sweaters, and I can’t swear by them enough. They are a form fitting “vest” that is outfitted with a very strong, durable and highly inflated ring. Because the vest is so form fitting, there is no way that a small child could get out of it themselves.
My husband and I used these on our children (ages four and two; last summer they were three and a half and almost two) last summer, and they worked like a charm. Our daughter (the four year old) enjoyed the freedom of splashing and wading around the entire pool without fear of sinking, and we were no longer worried about our clueless son going in too deep. The swim sweaters enabled us to be with our children without hovering over them and being in constant physical contact with them. We enjoyed the break, and our children enjoyed the freedom!
Here are a few shots of our daughter wearing the swim sweater:
So if you have small children and are looking for a great way to boost fun and safety while at the pool, consider purchasing a Swimways Swim Sweater in addition to whatever pool floats you’ll be buying!
Note: the Swimways swim sweater does not take the place of a responsible adult. Use it only IN ADDITION TO the presence of an adult.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been trying to find the best “floatie” for my 20 month old DD. I keep coming across a lot of complaints about different things that tip over and leave the child face down in the water. It seems like this is not an issue with this brand or for your children
