Big Smile Toys
I love “alternative” choices for toys for kids. I am not a fan of licensed character toys or electronic toys, and sadly both are in abundance at most regular stores. I am more interested in toys that encourage a child’s imagination, rather than do all the playing for them. As a child, I had very few electronic toys, and I did quite well playing with Barbie, Polly Pocket, a doll house my grandmother built for me, legos, K’Nex and all of the other non-electronic toys I have.
I am the same way with my children. For Christmas my husband and I gave each of them eleven items (clothes and puzzles were included in that amount), and two joint items. Out of 24 total gifts, only two are electronic. One is a miniature dump truck, which makes construction-like noises. The other is a bowling set, with the pins made to look like milk bottles and the ball made to look like a balled up cow. The ball moos when it’s in motion.
Big Smile Toys is a great resource for unique toys that don’t necessarily make a lot of noise or are run of the mill play things. They carry the must-haves for “alternative” toys, including Bruder toys, Playmobil toys, and the very adorable Calico Critters.
