Small Breed Seat Belt Harness

I love taking my dog with me for car rides, but I don’t like how she roams around the car. It’s not safe for her or me, and it’s annoying when I want to keep her out of bags and away from windows, as I prefer them to be slobber-free. I admit that when I first got her she was small enough to sit on my lap, where she would sleep as I drove. But now she’s a lot bigger and a lot more interested in seeing the sights. So, I hit up PetSmart and found just what I was looking for: a dog seat belt harness.

Small Breed Seat Belt Harness The Small Breed Seat Belt Harness works perfectly for Leah. It’s designed for dogs 20 lbs. and under (don’t worry, there are options for the bigger dogs, too!), and fits the dog just like a regular harness does. Except for one big difference: the material is actual seat belt material, and authentic safety buckles are used to secure the harness around the dog.

Additionally, there is a thick tether/strap situated on the top of the harness, across the dog’s upper back. You simply thread your car seat’s seat belt through this tether/strap, buckle it in, and your dog is good to go. He or she can sit comfortably in the seat next to you (or behind you, whichever), and be safe while you’re on the road.

My only critique of the product is that because the seat belt material is somewhat slippery, the entire harness has a tendency of shifting to the left or right on Leah, especially when she lunges about. This gives her a little more room to get at me from the side, or get to the window on the other side. But overall, the harness does keep her in place, and keeps her from going into the back of the car or climbing in my lap, so I can’t complain too much!
