Right now I’m watching a judge show. The plaintiff is suing the defendant for the cost of baby clothes that were burned, and photographs that were also destroyed. What the heck? Who does something like that? Burning photographs? I can see trashing tangible items that can be replaced, but to destroy items that are possibly one of a kind is just beyond wrong. That’s cruel. I hope that the judge rules in the plaintiff’s favor and awards her not only the cost of the baby clothes, but for emotional distress. What is that called — punitive damages?
