I have been itching for some silver nail polish for several weeks now. Unfortunately, my preferred brand of nail polish, Maybelline, didn’t have anything to offer. Neither did NYC, or even Wet ‘n Wild. Wet ‘n Wild kind of surprised me with their lack, as their brand is more “cheap”, and usually offers a wide variety of colors so as to appeal to the masses who are looking for quantity over quality.
I did, however, come across Sally Hansen’s Salon Nail Lacquer. It came in a two pack for $4.99: Shooting Star (silver) and Sheer Pressure (clear top coat). I was happy to have the top coat included, because in case you don’t already know, metallic nail polishes, including silver, have a tendency to chip and flake off very quickly. They don’t rub away. Rubbing away is bad enough, but at least that can be fixed without too much hassle or attention to detail. Chipping away completely, on the other hand, requires careful fixing, or removal of all nail polish and starting fresh.
Anyway, I applied the nail polish and its top coat six days ago. I’m disappointed to report that I had to fix three chips two and a half days in, but the disappointment stems from the top coat failing it job. The silver itself is very bright and brilliant! The polish doesn’t smell too strongly, goes on smoothly, and drives pretty quickly (even though it is not advertised to be a fast-drying polish).
