I love Dawn. I have been buying their usual dish soap for several years. Two years ago, I switched to Dawn’s orange citrus scent and stuck with it. Then, approximately two and a half weeks ago, I saw Dawn Direct Foam, realized I had a $1.50 coupon for it, and decided to buy it.
I should note that I have a dishwasher. I would also like to note that I make a lot of casseroles and crock pot meals. This translates into dishes, pans and containers with baked on food that requires soaking in order to soften it, loosen it and eventually scrub it off.
Dawn Direct Foam seems to perform well enough on plates, glasses and spoons. But give it anything that requires some elbow grease and effort, and it falls apart. Seriously. I have used A LOT of this soap to scrub pots and pans, and even forks and knives that had gunk crusted on them. And don’t even get me started on how many repeated soakings it took to loosen up the baked on food that was on the walls of my crock pot cooking dish.
Bottom line? Dawn Direct Foam works well enough on simple, quick cleaning jobs. But for pots, pans, and anything that won’t just rinse off, it doesn’t hold up. It smells nice, and looks nice. But I think I’ll stick with what does work: regular Dawn dish detergent! As far as the foam… let’s leave it to hand soap, okay?

Dawn Direct Foam is the best thing going. If your dishes need soaking, try Dawn power dissolver. I spray it on baked foods, oven spills, and anything else that might require scrubbing. In a few minutes it comes clean with no elbow grease. Bwetter than anything else I’ve tried.
