I want to upgrade my desktop to 4GB worth of memory. It is running on 2GB worth right now, which is pretty decent, except that I am now handling photos that are taken and saved in RAW format. This means that I’m running Adobe Photoshop and opening photos that are 9mb-11mb each. In .jpeg format they were 1mb-2mb. As you can see, that’s a big difference. And I’m definitely noticing my system slowing down.
I usually hit up ebay to purchase memory, but I decided I would go ahead and check out 4allmemory.com, which was recommended by my brother-in-law.
One thing I like about the site is that you can search for memory based on your computer, rather than having to know the specifics beforehand.
So I searched, and they do have my laptop model — HP Pavilion ZD8000. The bummer is that they don’t have 2GB sticks. I’m not sure if that’s because they just don’t carry it, or my laptop can’t handle that much RAM. But I will say that they do have decent prices on the RAM they do carry, including dell memory.
