Yesterday was a beautiful day for a trip to the zoo: bright and sunny, with temperatures reaching the mid to high 70’s. My husband and I took our daughter to the zoo, but neglected to pack one thing for ourselves: sunscreen. Six hours in direct sunlight resulted in a moderate sunburn on my neck and chest (I was wearing a low cut top), but an especially wicked sunburn on my upper back, shoulders and the back of my neck:

Ocean Potion Instant Burn Relief Ice One thing I didn’t have on hand was soothing burn relief aloe, so I called up my mom and asked for some of hers. She gave me a half bottle of what she swore is the best sunburn relief aloe she has ever tried, Ocean Potion Instead Burn Relief Ice. It is a non-sticky, stain free formula made up of aloe vera gel, “necessary stabilizers and preservatives”, and best of all: topical Lidocaine for pain relief.

I have now used it three times since I first got my hands on it two and a half hours ago. It does work! Of course, the cooling sensation and pain relief wears off after a while, but at only $5.99 for a big bottle of the stuff, it’s not a big deal to re-apply. Also, I highly recommend placing Ocean Potion Instant Burn Relief Ice in the fridge before applying. It’s a huge shock to the skin to have such a cold gel applied, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel good. :)
