In the fall of 2006, my mom bragged about the super expensive Food Saver she purchased. I tried it out and liked it, but obviously shied away from the $100+ price tag! So when I saw the Rival Seal-A-Meal at Target last September, I had to have it. And at $60 less than the Food Saver, it was well worth the buy.
The Seal-A-Meal does everything I want it to. Sealing bags is a breeze. Making bags? That I’m not so sure about, because while I have several rolls ready to be turned into bags, I haven’t yet made any! I’m assuming it’s a matter of measuring out the length of bag you want, then doubling the length, cutting it off the roll, folding it in half, and sealing two of the three open sides.
My only critique about the Seal-A-Meal is that you need to exert a bit of pressure to engage the air vacuum and then bag sealing mechanism. A bit more effort and force than I had to do with the Food Saver. But, for that $60 savings, I’m willing to put my all into it!
P.S. I’ve just realized how much I like Rival products! And in addition to the griddle, crock-pot and vacuum sealer, I also have a fryer, and I’m pretty sure that the rice cooker I have is made by Rival as well!
