My grandmother made the most delicious pancakes known to man. Or known to me, anyway. She passed her special recipe down to my mother, who passed it on to me. Well, I quickly found out while my grandmother didn’t make the pancakes very often: it’s a real pain to stand a stove and make pancakes one at a time, with the sides of each pancake taking 3-4 minutes to brown! After two times of spending close to an hour making enough pancakes to feed our family of four and the four people we had over for dinner, I decided to purchase an electric griddle.
The first griddle I purchased, whose brand I don’t remember, wound up going back to the store, because the batter was sticking (remember, these griddles are supposed to be non-stick!), and the griddle itself was not heating evenly. I was only able to evenly cook one pancake at a time, which defeated the purpose of having a griddle altogether! So after I returned the first griddle, I picked up a Rival griddle. Six months later, the griddle is still going strong. We use it at least once a week, and for more than just pancakes! Meat, steak for cheese steaks, grilled cheese sandwiches, eggs and waffles are examples of a few food items that the griddle has cooked to perfection.
I paid $34.99 for the Rival griddle at Target.
