Nyquil is a cure-all in that it can eliminate your existing suffering from a cold, or as luck would have it for me (and my husband, children, mother, brothers, brothers-in-law and their girlfriends), the flu, by simply knocking you out for a solid eight or nine hours. Or for those who seem particularly sensitive to its sleep-inducing effects, nine to twelve hours. I am one of those people. And since I am on day three of the miserable flu, and spend my waking hours tending to sick kids and listening to the whining of a sick husband, while deploring my own constant state of misery, I am definitely taking advantage of the oblivion that Nyquil offers and will have a very good night’s sleep.
