A few things worth mentioning about car spoilers:

  • First, car spoilers belong on — say it with me now — cars. I have seen mini-vans with car spoilers, and they look absolutely ridiculous. I also once saw a wood paneled, flame tattooed PT Cruiser with a spoiler on the back of it, and I think I almost ran off the road in disbelief.
  • Second, it’s all or nothing. A car spoiler should be a full out spoiler, not a little “lip” attached to the end of the trunk.
  • Finally, under no circumstances should a car spoiler look like it was made from an erector set, or worse yet, manufactured by Rubbermaid, like the following car spoiler that my husband and I spotted at Walmart a few years ago:
