While some people may find success with the use of diet pills or a diet patch, in conjunction with watching what they eat and exercising regularly, I am throwing my hands up in defeat. I have been working on weight loss since my daughter was born (three years ago!), and have not managed to lose much of anything. Instead, I am stuck in the same ten to fifteen pound range. So, I am looking into the lap band surgery. And by “looking into”, I mean that I have called my insurance company to verify what is covered and what I need to do, and I have an appointment set up for December 12th. I can’t wait!!!

I’d be surprised if for 10-15 lbs, they would be willing to cover lap band, or any bariatric surgery. I know that to get my gastric bypass, they required that I have a BMI of at least 40, and be over 100 lbs. overweight.

I think you misunderstood. I am stuck in the same ten to fifteen pound range of weight. Believe me, my BMI is over 40, and I am definitely 100 lbs. overweight!

Well, that makes a ton of difference! LOL. I did take the “10-15 lb range” to mean that you were just that amount over. BEST OF LUCK to you with getting your approval and your new lifestyle!

Jenn, that’s so exciting! I’m very happy to read this news. I’ve read your blog for years, and know how hard you’ve tried to lose weight. I always hoped you could try this procedure. A few of my friends had it done and each was an absolute success.
Get ready for your life to change in amazing ways! Whoo!
